Dr. Mena Mesiha is a Board-certified orthopedic surgeon trained in general orthopedics, with specialized fellowship training in problems affecting the shoulder. Dr. Mesiha is a graduate of Cornell University and received his Doctorate in Medicine from SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He completed his Orthopedic Residency at the Cleveland Clinic, followed by additional training in the Harvard Shoulder Fellowship at the Mass General and Brigham and Women’s Hospitals. Dr. Mesiha is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS), and a Candidate Member of the prestigious American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES). During his residency, Dr. Mesiha studied the biomechanics of rotator cuff tears and the biology of rotator cuff healing. He uses this knowledge of the science of rotator cuff disease to help him counsel patients on when it is appropriate to avoid surgery and to maximize their benefits from surgery when it is necessary. He has also studied the importance of component positioning in shoulder replacement surgery and is currently using state-of-the-art 3-D printing technology to plan his shoulder replacement procedures. Dr. Mesiha is considered by U.S. News & World Report to be an experienced, high volume surgeon for both rotator cuff repairs and shoulder replacement procedures.
